Inter-club challenge

Posted: July 6, 2017

This weekend sees the inaugural Rustenburg Cycling inter-club challenge. In the spirit of the Tour de France, members from Rustenburg Cycling Club will be grouped into two teams, consisting of road- and mountain bikers (only road bikes will be used) to race against each other to determine the best cycling team.

Team race tactics, similar to that used by the professional teams during the TDF, will be employed to ensure team members, also referred to as “domestiques”, protect their race leader right to the end when a possible sprint finish will determine the eventual winner. The race will start at Leon’s Motors and will take cyclists on the Koster road, around Koster Dam and back on the N4 to town, a total distance off 110 km’s.

Leon’s Motors, proud distributors of Land Rover, Mazda, Ford and Volvo are the main sponsors of the event and they will also provide four back-up vehicles to ensure the safety of all the cyclists.
