Land Rover Kgaswane Race

The flagship race, the 50km features a number of testing climbs, technical elements and beautiful single track. With a total elevation gain of ~1204m, riders will be subjected to around 24m climbing for every kilometre travelled. This year we have a new start venue of Excalibur Castle just off the R24. Riders will now be afforded time to warm up before the climbing begins. The climbing will heat up when riders face the old Management Road climb which leads to the KOM/QOM. This climb boasts gradients in excess of 20%.  Rider will face one more significant climb in the reserve before a rather fast descent and exit from the reserve. Things however can’t be that easy and they aren’t, 50km riders will turn off the main road back to the Castle and head for Nico Roux Wildbedryf for a little sting in the tail before a fast and existing blitz to the finish.

The finish line is well positioned next to the castle for spectators, families and friends to cheer the riders on.

The 30km route caters to the young racer and average weekend warrior. It offers a challenging amount of climbing, while not excessively technical in nature. The route follows the 50km route into the reserve, as such riders will also have time to warm up before the climbing commences. The route is primary on tar road and jeep/farm track with a taste of single track thrown in for good measure. There will be a junior KOM/QOM at the top of the main reserve road climb (7.83kms). Riders will then complete the route on the plateau before a fast dash out down from the plateau, out the reserve and onto the finish at the Castle.
