On Sunday, 26 October 2025 the 28th edition of the 947 Joburg Road Race took place, which drew thousands of cyclists participating in the 97km Road Race or 35km Short Ride.

The Rustenburg Cycling Members joins this race every year and sees it as a challenge to better their times and enjoy the scenic metropolitan loop through some of Johannesburg’s most iconic areas.

Starting at FNB Stadium in Nasrec, riders cycled along the Soweto Highway, Main Reef Road, and Sandton’s elevated routes, before passing through Woodmead, Rivonia, and the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. The course also highlighted key landmarks such as the Jukskei River rehabilitation site and the Nelson Mandela Bridge — symbolically linking the City’s north and south areas.
