Danie du Plooy and Gerhard Bekker, two young mountain bikers, were chosen to represent North West at the SA championships.

The championship was held at the challenging 85km Karkloof course in KZN

Both Danie and Gerhard completed the grueling race.  Danie was the first of the NW team to finish in a time of 5 hours 43 minutes . Gerhard experienced mechanical issues at 30km but pushed on to complete the course.
